New Chief of Staff Focusing on Opportunities |
The Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) Board of Directors has appointed Dr. Allyson Champagne as its next Chief of Staff, effective April 1st. Dr. Champagne says she is looking forward to this new role. “I definitely raised my hand to get involved,” she says. “The time is right for me to give back in a new way to our local hospital.”
Dr. Champagne has been a family physician in Carleton Place for 15 years. In addition, she is Chief of Perioperative Services and a staff anesthetist. Dr. Champagne also supports Change Health Care, an opioid clinic on Bridge Street. “Before coming here, I provided coverage at many different hospitals and always had my eye on Carleton Place,” she says. “Working here allows me to do all parts of my practice from family medicine to anesthesia to inpatient care.”
During her tenure as Chief of Staff, Dr. Champagne says one of her priorities will be to help bring more doctors to Carleton Place. “We have a challenge and an opportunity to make CPDMH better by attracting and retaining community-minded family physicians who want to provide continuity of care for their patients by looking after them in the hospital as well as in their office practice.”
She also wants to help strengthen the growing collaboration with Almonte General Hospital, building on the work that has already been done. “We will continue to work together to provide better, more efficient care, while reducing duplication of services.”
“Dr. Champagne brings impressive credentials to her new role and the Board looks forward to working with her,” adds Board Chair Carol Anne Esnard.
Dr. Champagne replaces Dr. Jamie Fullerton who is stepping down after nearly three years as CPDMH’s Chief of Staff. During that time, Dr. Fullerton has provided outstanding leadership to the Medical Staff and has been an engaged and valued member of the Senior Management Team. At the same time, he has worked collaboratively with his colleagues from partner hospitals to support high-quality care and access for patients across the Champlain Region. Thank you to Dr. Fullerton for his leadership.
