Format: Best Ball Scramble - SHOTGUN START
The Bed Pan Classic Charity Golf Tournament is to be fun and enjoyed by all – regardless of golf skill. Rules for the Game follow the Best-Ball Scramble Rules. Following these guidelines will help maintain the flow on the green and make it enjoyable for all teams!
Best-Ball Scramble
All teams are to follow the scramble rules: In a scramble, each player tees-off on each hole. The best of the tee shots is selected and all players play their second shots from that spot. The best of the second shots is determined, then all play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed. Scores are calculated by the total team score using the best ball played.
At all times heed the instructions of the course Marshal who is there to make your round enjoyable.
Slow play has always been an issue during mixed golf tournaments, thus it's important as a beginner to pay attention to your pace of play. You don't want to keep golfers behind you waiting, just as you probably don't want to be kept waiting yourself by slow groups ahead.
Make sure you are prepared to play when it is your turn to hit. Don't wait until it is your turn to determine the line of a putt, or to figure out which club to use. To avoid this, use the time while others are hitting to make those decisions, so that when it's your turn you can step right up and play.
If your group is slower than the group immediately behind yours (if your group is holding up another group), it's good etiquette to allow the faster group to play through. Not all groups will want to do this, but many will, and those who do will most likely be very grateful for your show of etiquette. Furthermore, not only will you do them a favour, but also take the pressure of knowing that somebody is waiting for you off your chest, which will most likely result in better, more precise shots.
